Safegard Systems were approached to provide smoke & fire dampers for Pfizer Inc. who currently employ over 4,000 employees across 5 sites in the Republic of Ireland. The manufacturing giants have been in Ireland since 1969 and decided to upgrade and improve their premises.
With this particular project, there were a couple on non-standard installation details required. Pfizer utilised Safegard’s damper installation inspection & sign-off service to overcome this issue.
After commissioning was completed, it was reported that there was an issue with the system causing the fan to run when it was required not to. When Safegard attended the site to look into this issue, we discovered the client was trying to switching 230v through our panel which is not possible. This was not in place when the panel was commissioned.
After consulting with the client we suggested that we would arrange for a relay to be fitted externally to the panel to give us 24V to switch over the output they needed to send a run signal.
Safegard Systems can help provide solutions to any challenges that the client may come across.

The V5 panel is an intelligent control and monitoring system for the smoke fire dampers fitted throughout the hotel. The system monitors and commands particular dampers to open or close in affected zones during a fire. The control system quickly and effectively interfaces directly with the building's fire alarm systems and Building Management system. It also means that all of the dampers can be tested remotely on a regular basis, adhering to current building regulations and best practice and significantly reduces maintenance time and cost. The CE marked and ‘EIS’ rated automatic fire/smoke dampers throughout the development have been engineered to inhibit the spread of smoke and fire.
Safegard Systems design and supply systems to protect buildings and the occupants in the event of fire. Solutions are designed and supplied with the user in mind, providing innovative approaches that offer simple means of installation, operation and maintenance.
